(ANSA) - MADRID, AUGUST 19 - From tomorrow stop the curfew in Barcelona and in dozens of other locations in the north-east of Spain: this was decreed by the Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia, which denied the regional administration the authorization to extend the measure , except in the case of 19 municipalities where the incidence of Covid cases exceeds 250 per 100,000 inhabitants.
The news was picked up by the main Iberian media.
The curfew remained in effect between 1 am and 6 am for several weeks in more than 100 municipalities in Catalonia, one of the areas most affected by the wave of contagion caused mainly by the Delta variant of the coronavirus. Given the improvement in the health situation, the regional government lowered the incidence threshold considered sufficient to justify its extension and obtain the corresponding judicial permits.
According to the court resolution, made known today, the administration's request to keep the co-fire in force in dozens of municipalities is based more on public reasons than on health criteria: reason why a measure that limits the freedom of personal movement of this type does not it is justifiable.
