The discounter Aldi could soon look very different.

The branches are to receive a drastic conversion.

Dortmund – Juice, muesli and preserves are in the same place in every branch and can therefore be found quickly by customers – this is how many people probably know the discounter Aldi.

But this usual walk through the shop could soon change drastically.

Because the branches are to be restructured.

Aldi is changing the branches: This is what shopping at discounters should look like in the future

Although the discounters Aldi Nord and Aldi Süd are becoming more and more similar, there are still major differences between the two.

Aldi Süd has fewer branches, but the chain still makes more sales than Aldi Nord.

This could be due to the different assortment of discounters.

But the branches of the two competitors also look different.

But Aldi Nord now wants to modernize its locations.

The discounter has been working with the so-called "AniKo" concept since 2018.

Promotional goods can usually be found right at the beginning of the branches, while fresh fruit and vegetables are right at the back.

This arrangement will soon be completely changed.

And some products are also thrown out at Aldi.

Aldi: Customers should soon find fruit and vegetables at the entrance - the new concept draws comparisons to Lidl

The conversion of Aldi Nord branches is to take place step by step.

The new concept has been tested at various locations since the end of 2021.

As

Der Westen

reports, two branches in North Rhine-Westphalia are also affected.

There are also two in Lower Saxony and an Aldi in Schleswig-Holstein.

The exact locations are:

  • Werl (NRW)

  • Radevormwald (NRW)

  • Hannoversch Münden (Lower Saxony)

  • Sievershauen (Lower Saxony)

  • Notorf (Schleswig-Holstein)

Aldi is remodeling branches: the new concept is intended to bring fruit and vegetables into the visual focus

The Aldi Nord of the future could optically approach Aldi Süd.

The fruit and vegetable department is to be placed right at the beginning of both discounters.

At Aldi Süd, this is already the case in many branches.

The concept seems to be working, because Aldi isn't the only discounter using the concept.

Aldi Nord is even supposed to imitate Lidl in one respect: canned vegetables and fruit are sorted across from the fruit counter.

Opposite refrigerated goods, customers will in future find dairy products that do not have to be refrigerated, such as eggs, sugar and flour, another similarity to Lidl branches.

Promotional goods from the non-food area should be placed opposite wine and sparkling wine, while spirits should be placed near the checkout.

According to

Lebensmittel Zeitung

, the new Aldi Nord is "more clearly structured".

Aldi is breaking new ground: Discounter is testing pizza robots in Australia

According to Chip.de

, it is not yet known in detail

whether other Aldi Nord branches will be changed after the test phase .

The discounter seems to have long since said goodbye to its well-known concept that every Aldi should look the same worldwide.

A pizza machine is currently being tested in Australian branches, but not yet in Germany.

Aldi wants to change things not only in the branches, but also in logistics.

The aim is to better adhere to the company's own motto "Fresh choice meets cheap".

The trigger for this upheaval could be the loss of market share by the discounter Aldi, speculates

Heidelberg24.de

.

Aldi lost about one percent in 2022, and according to a forecast, further losses are imminent.
