After sexist statements by the indicted Frankfurt Mayor Peter Feldmann, his party, the local SPD, has now also demanded his resignation.
That requires the dignity of the office, the reputation of the city and the ability of the magistrate to act, said deputy party leader Kolja Müller.
At the weekend, a video appeared on the internet in which Feldmann spoke of flight attendants on the flight to the Europa League final from Eintracht Frankfurt to Seville, “who put me out of action hormonally at first”.
"The sexist statement made by the mayor on the flight to Seville is not a trivial offense, but a blunder to be condemned," said Müller.
The behavior is one of a number of other mistakes.
The Greens, CDU, FDP and the Volt party in the Main metropolis had previously called for a resignation and threatened a voting procedure, as the Greens said.
Even Eintracht Frankfurt distanced itself from the mayor after Feldmann had caused irritation at the cup celebration in the Römer.
There he first took the trophy from Eintracht captain Sebastian Rode and coach Oliver Glasner in order to advance towards the Kaisersaal.
During his speech, Feldmann mispronounced several of the players' names.
Eintracht Frankfurt sees "no more basis"
»The players and coaches present the pot to the people.
Everything else is vanity and narcissism,” said Eintracht board spokesman Axel Hellmann of the “Bild” newspaper.
“In the future there will no longer be any basis between Eintracht Frankfurt and him.
I can't imagine that Peter Feldmann is still welcome at our games in the stadium.« Feldmann regretted both his appearance at the party and the saying on the plane.
Feldmann could stumble over the triumph of Eintracht.
However, he has long been criticized for suspected corruption.
In March, the Frankfurt public prosecutor's office brought charges of accepting benefits in connection with the so-called Awo affair.
Among other things, Feldmann's wife, as head of an Awo daycare center, is said to have received a salary that was higher than the collective agreement "without any objective reason," it was said.
After the indictment, the SPD initially said that he would have to resign if the main proceedings were to be allowed.
