(ANSA) - ROME, OCTOBER 03 - "The great issue is Israel's right to exist, and not enough has been done about the attack on the Rome Synagogue in 1982".

This was stated by the president of the Jewish community of Rome, Ruth Dureghello, during his speech at the presentation to the Senate of the exhibition epodcast made on the occasion of the forty years since the attack, which took place on October 9, 1982, in which the little Stefano Gaj Taché died and the wounded were over thirty.

"The Palestinian attack was against Israel's right to adhere. We are grateful - she added - to those who did not make a distinction on Israel like presidents Napolitano and Mattarella".

The President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella will be present on Sunday 9 October at the Synagogue for the ceremony 40 years after the attack.

Ruth Dureghello confirmed this during a press conference.

Also on October 9, an exhibition will be inaugurated at the Baths of Diocletian to commemorate the attack on the Synagogue of Rome that took place exactly 40 years ago, in 1982. In the terrorist action, little Stefano Gaj Taché lost his life and more than 30 people were injured.

The exhibition was organized by the Foundation for Religious Sciences of Bologna, together with the B'nai B'rith Association and the Committee for anniversaries of national interest of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, with the collaboration of the Jewish Community of Rome.

In addition to the exhibition, there is also a podcast with music by the Oscar winner, Nicola Piovani.
