A family court in Rishon Lezion this morning (Wednesday) approved the request of the six couples who underwent fertility treatments at "Assuta" in the city to carry out tests to determine if they are genetically related to baby Sophia.
About a week and a half ago, the Ministry of Health presented the conclusions of the hearing committee process in the case.
The hearing, which was chaired by Dr. Hagar Mizrahi, head of the medical division at the Ministry of Health, dealt with the question of whether there is a danger to public health as a result of the activity in the insemination unit at the hospital. The ministry stated that the activity of the insemination unit will decrease by 50%. Discuss the case itself.
Also, more than 100 infertile patients asked to remove their embryos or eggs from the hospital, and move to continue treatment at another hospital, due to what they call a "crisis of trust".
According to them, the hospital refuses their request and creates difficulties.
This is part of a group of about 200 patients who joined the "Victims' Struggle Headquarters of the Fertilization Department in Assuta, Rashtrakshahi". They are demanding genetic tests be performed on women who were treated on dates close to those when, allegedly, the failure to replace the embryos occurred.
At the end of last month, the Ministry of Health stated that until the completion of the legal examination in the government, the genetic tests must be frozen and at the same time a conversation should be held as soon as possible with each of the potential couples.
