If you send your Christmas gifts or greeting cards by post, you should note the deadlines of the deliverers so that they arrive in time for Christmas Eve.
Do you want to surprise your loved ones who live further away with a nice Christmas card or a gift?
Then you should find out exactly when you have to deliver your package to the post office.
No letters and parcels are delivered over the holidays, so in the worst case your surprise will only arrive between the years.
Send Christmas mail with DHL: These are the deadlines
Depending on whether it is a letter, a postcard or a parcel, different deadlines apply to DHL.
The country of delivery also plays a role.
For example, letters and postcards sent within Germany should be handed in by December 22nd.
For parcels and parcels, however, the last possible day is December 20th.
Here is an overview of all deadlines:

Hermes: By when you have to hand in your Christmas presents
Hermes promises reliable delivery of Christmas parcels and parcels by December 24 if they are handed in at a parcel shop by 12 noon on December 21 at the latest.
This applies to packages that are sent within Germany.
For post that is sent to other EU countries, the deliverer gives a deadline of December 15th.
If the parcels go to neighboring European countries, a later delivery is possible - shipments to Austria, for example, can be delivered up to December 20th.
Hermes also announces that parcels will also be delivered nationwide on Christmas Eve.
After the holidays, the couriers will resume their work from December 28th.
Shipping within Germany: until December 21, 2022, 12 noon
Shipping within the EU: until December 15, 2022 (individual countries may vary)
Shipping to Austria: until December 20, 2022

If you send your Christmas mail with DPD, you should make a note of December 21 as the deadline.
Parcels sent within Germany can be handed in at a Pickup parcel shop until 12 noon.
Parcels that are sent to other EU countries should be in a Pickup parcel shop by 12 noon on December 17 at the latest.
Shipping within Germany: by December 21, 2022, 12 p.m. (priority and express parcels by December 23, 12 p.m.)
Shipping to other EU countries: by December 17, 12 noon

GLS: deadlines for timely dispatch before Christmas Eve
Parcels delivered via GLS arrive in good time before Christmas if they are handed in at a GLS parcel shop by 21 December at 12 noon.
Parcels for neighboring EU countries until December 20 at 12 noon.
For all other EU countries, the deadline is December 19 at 12 noon.
Shipping within Germany: by December 21, 12 noon
Shipping to neighboring EU countries: by December 20, 12 noon
Shipping to all other EU countries: by December 19, 12 p.m
