The Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Construction and Housing and the Jewish Agency announce that the signing of the agreement to increase the public housing stock in a joint project between the government and the agency has been completed.

According to the agreement, in the first phase 1,500 housing units will be built nationwide, intended for the elderly who are entitled to public housing, and later it will be possible to increase the agreement by an additional 1,500 housing units.

This agreement is a direct continuation of a similar agreement signed with the Jewish Agency in 2016, under which approximately 2,650 housing units were built, and serves as a significant milestone in the government's cooperation with the Jewish Agency.

According to the agreement, the apartments that will be built nationwide will be managed by the Jewish Agency through the Amigor company, while providing "quality social services and concern for the well-being of the residents."

The sheltered housing will be located nationwide in a variety of cities, among others in Nof HaGalil, Beer Sheva, Nativot, Ra'anana, Hadera, Lod, Tel Aviv and more.

"Success in all respects"

Minister of Finance, Avigdor Lieberman:

"The agreement is a success in a number of ways - we are also increasing the supply of housing, we are also establishing high-quality public housing that provides a significant response to those who are waiting, both nationwide and in an economic and worthwhile agreement for the state and the agency."

Minister of Construction and Housing, Ze'ev Elkin:

"The agreement to build 3,000 units of public housing for the elderly that we signed is an important step towards increasing the stock of public housing. From my first moment in the office, I set the goal of increasing the stock of public housing very high in our priorities, and I am happy to complete this important move. Seniors The needy are the weakest population in the State of Israel, and they make up about two-thirds of all those waiting for public housing. Therefore, the new project with the Jewish Agency and Amigor is considered a first-rate social step."
