Firefighters managed to extinguish a large fire that spread over large areas between the towns and villages of ancient and Kharsa and Dama in the area of ​​Lejat in the countryside of the north-west of Sweida.

The fire brigade commander in the Shahba Mahmoud Meli fire brigade explained that the fire broke out in a very rough rocky area covered with dense grasses and it took more than five hours to extinguish due to the nature of the rugged area and the inability of the fire brigades to reach the places where the fire was spread. .

Melli pointed out that the fire, which did not know the causes of the fire spread over a large area estimated hundreds of dunums were spreading dry land and damaged some olive groves in the region before it was controlled and extinguished by joining the efforts of fire fighting units Shahba and support the fire brigade Sweida and the Directorate of Agriculture and a number of people .

The fire brigades, in cooperation with the concerned authorities and residents, put out many fires during the summer in different areas of the province, including those caused by natural and human factors due to arson or arson, or failure to comply with the conditions and rules of prevention and safety.

Thousands of dunums of agricultural and forested land and slaughter were damaged between field crops, fruitful and forested trees and dry herbs.
