The Iranian Foreign Ministry described the UN General Assembly resolution on human rights in Iran as "unilateral and unrealistic", rejecting the resolution and condemning any political exploitation of this issue against independent states.
Abbas Moussawi, spokesman for the ministry, said in a statement today in response to the adoption of the resolution by the General Assembly that the formulation, ratification and contents of such resolutions are rejected and reflect the hypocrisy of the sponsors.
"The resolution is unilateral and unrealistic," Mousavi said. "One of its main sponsors is Washington, which by imposing economic terrorism against the Iranian people violates the rights of more than 83 million Iranians, especially women, children, the elderly and the sick."
Moussaoui considered the support of the Zionist entity, the murderous children and reactionary regimes in the region for this decision sufficient evidence to prove its illegitimacy.
In a related context, described the Assistant Representative of Iran to the United Nations Isaac Al Habib resolution against Iran as a hypocrisy, pointing out that the countries that adopted the resolution can not be concerned themselves with human rights.
Iran consistently affirms its full commitment to respect the fundamental rights of its citizens in accordance with the principles of its Constitution.
