An Iranian official's unusual remarks on the issue of nuclear weapons were published Tuesday by the semi-official ISNA news agency. In a speech in Carman district, MP Ahmed Hamza said his country would be safer if it held nuclear weapons.

"If we have nuclear weapons, we will be protected from the threats we face. We must put long-range missile production, those capable of carrying unconventional warheads, as our top priority," Hamza was quoted as saying.

While Iran continues to enrich uranium and increase its nuclear stockpile, in the past, the country has repeatedly argued that Tehran is not interested in developing or holding nuclear weapons and that the use of nuclear weapons is contrary to Islamic law.

Hamza did not settle for his remarks on nuclear weapons and continued a direct threat to US President Donald Trump. "I am offering a Carmanaf Residents Charge Award. We will pay $ 3 million to anyone who will be assassinated by Trump," the lawmaker said.

Following the assassination of Revolutionary Guards Quds Force commander Qassem Suleimani, some media outlets in the country reported that the Iranian government intends to bid $ 80 million on Trump's head, but no official response has been received from the government.
