Carlos Alberto Telleldín (59 years old) defines himself as a "nice rogue" who claims the "glorious Argentine Army", Perón and Cristina Kirchner. In reality, he was always "a life-seeker" who did business on the brink of the Penal Code. Currently, on the one hand, he defends the Zaeta brothersin the crime of Fabián Gutiérrez in El Calafate, and on the other, he is the main accused for delivering the Trafic that was used as a fire engine in the AMIA attack.

Those who know Telleldín ─alias “El Enano” ─ because of his passage through federal courts define him as a “liar, verbiage, media and cunning” character and with training “in intelligence in the Cordoba police ”.

During the ten years he spent in preventive detention in prison by AMIA, he received a lawyer and is now dedicated to criminal law with the “work for quantity” modality, that is, having 200 or 300 common prisoners as clients , contacts with the Commissioners and a couple of young attorneys who write the presentations, to make good profits.

Since the fall of the first trial by AMIA in 2004, he has been seen in high-end cars , active on Twitter against Macrism and with custody. On the Telleldín and associates website, it says that it has a branch in Liniers and another in Río Gallegos.

As background, he says that he defended those accused of being a member of the Chinese mafia, the theft of Ezeiza's radars, Father Grassi and Felipe Romeo, one of the former leaders of Triple A , among others.

In a chapter of the manuscript of the book he wrote in prison and was going to publish entitled From altar boy to soldier , he recalled his childhood in Córdoba, and his time at the Military Lyceum, which he says he graduated as a second lieutenant and where he had a companion son of former dictator Jorge Rafael Videla.

"El Enano" is the son of the former police commissioner general of Córdoba, Pedro Telleldín. ThisAfter his retirement as a non-commissioned officer from the Army, in 1974 he joined the Cordovan police at the hands of Lieutenant Colonel Domingo Navarro , who overthrew left Peronist Governor Ricardo Obregón Cano, in a coup known as "el navarrazo".

His father was accused of having joined the Libertadores de América Command , an arm of Triple A (Alianza Anticomunista Argentina), responsible for the illegal repression in that province before the coup of March 24, 1976.

Shortly after democracy was restored in 1983, “El Enano” decided on various businesses such as cabarets, the sale of contraband appliances, a video club and the “reduction” of stolen cars .

The former commissioner Pedro Telleldín, Carlos's father.

In the manuscript of the book that he had agreed to publish with Tuny Kollmann and that he dictated to his former cellmate, ex-public prosecutor Jorge Damonte, he admits his criminal record: " Although I do not have a deep record of aberrant crimes , I am what everyone we know him as a nice scoundrel. ”And he clarifies“ I always characterized myself for working with the Penal Code in hand ”.

He also tells how once a yacht was seized from him in Uruguay for smuggling household appliances: "Even today my cruise ship awaits release, just as I do , since both Benidorm (that's what the ship is called) and I are victims of crimes that we did not commit ."

And to defend himself against the accusations, he added: "Should we also declare all intermediaries in the country criminally responsible for cover-up? What nonsense, that way we would end the principles of free trade."

In July 1994, he bought a damaged Trafic from the firm "Messin" from Automotores Monjo and changed his life forever . He took out the engine, which is the one that appeared on the rubble of AMIA on the 18th of that month.

He is accused of having stolen another similar van and using the engine of the first one to "double it" and sell it with his "live papers".

Upon his first arrest in 1994, he claimed that he handed the Trafic over to a man who spoke Spanish with a Central American accent and wore glasses and a hat. After receiving a payment from SIDE of Menem for US $ 400 thousand dollars , he said that he had given it to members of the Buenos Aires government. Years later, it returned to its original version .

For Miguel Bronfman, AMIA's historical lawyer, Telleldín "keeps the secret of who he sold the truck to" and for that "he planted false leads and tried to escape in 1994." Knowing who gave it to them is key to knowing where Trafic was put 300 kilos of ammonia, a detonator and a hat to direct the explosion towards the columns of the AMIA building, where 85 people died.

The original AMIA investigation - carried out by the then judge Juan José Galeano and prosecutors Eamon Mullen and José Barbaccia - was annulled in 2004 by the Federal Oral Court No. 3 for the payment to Telleldín. But the AMIA complaint appealed and the Court in October 2009 ruled that the case had not been contaminated since that payment back . So this year another new oral trial was opened to "El Enano".

At the same time, in March 2019, the Federal Oral Court 2 sentenced Galeano, the former prosecutors, and gave Telleldín three and a half years in prison in the case known as the alleged cover-up or AMIA II.

This year the AMIA Fiscal Unit, led by Sebastián Basso, again accused Telleldín in the new oral trial that is underway. The request for elevation to trial is attributed "the obtaining, conditioning and subsequent contribution" to the Hezbollah terrorists of the Traffic used in the attack.

The ex-reducer of stolen cars and today lawyer Carlos Alberto Telleldín.

"The accused knew at all times that this vehicle would be used for an attack of the characteristics of the one directed against AMIA," affirms the prosecution's accusation. "Telleldín's choice to take part in the operation was obviously not a random one, but was based on his activities outside the law , especially his extensive knowledge in the 'folding' of automobiles," the document states.

Specifically, the legal qualification that he endowed him with was that of a “ necessary participant in the crime of qualified homicide aggravated by having been committed by an appropriate means to cause a common danger, to the detriment of 85 victims, in ideal competition with the crimes of serious injuries reiterated (36 facts), slight reiterated (115 facts) and multiple damages ”.

Now if he is eventually sentenced to a crime less than ten years, he will not be imprisoned because he has already had a preventive ten years.

On Twitter, Telleldín denied the allegations and recently attacked prosecutor Basso, saying "it is easy to speak 26 years later, ask the prosecutor the name of the suicide bomber? Ask him which Trafic truck was used? Nisman was searching and surveyed 5,000 searching for her, ask her where they put the explosives? A fair talkative is coming, insults the relatives. ”

Always "a nice rogue" on which serious accusations weigh.
