Five dead children
Monday evening, a car accident mowed down nine members of a family from the suburbs of Lyon and the Paris region. All were on the A7 motorway aboard a Renault Grand Scénic minivan which caught fire before exiting the road then several barrels in a field near the town of Albon.

In addition to the five children aged 3 to 14 who died, four other members of the family, including a 7-year-old child and two adults with a life-threatening prognosis, are currently still cared for in hospitals in Lyon.
