ARCHEOLOGY - The excavation of a burial shaft at Saqqara, in the vast necropolis of the Memphis region, revealed the presence of thirteen coffins stacked on top of each other and perfectly sealed.

The Saqqarah necropolis, in Lower Egypt, has not therefore revealed all its secrets?

A team of archaeologists made an incredible discovery.

She unearthed no less than thirteen burials in perfect condition, stacked one on top of the other in a funeral shaft.

To do this, the researchers had to enter the 11-meter-deep high conduit using ropes (some wells can reach 25 meters).

“Preliminary studies show that these coffins are completely closed and that they have not been opened since they were buried inside the well,”

reveals the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.

Before adding:

"Inside, a number of artifacts and wooden coffins have not yet been identified, but these questions will be answered in the coming days thanks to further work."

Khaled Al-Anani, Egyptian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities expressed an

“incredible feeling”

at the discovery of these antiquities.

Inside this funeral shaft, three niches were also found.

They could shelter other "mansions of eternity" of this necropolis of Memphis whose dimensions defy understanding, since it measures more than eight kilometers long.

At the end of July, Egyptologists had succeeded in unraveling the secret of the "howling mummy", a mummified woman with her mouth open and her body twisted, which had provoked many questions among specialists.

According to famous Egyptologist Zahi Hawass, Egypt's former minister of antiquities and Sahar Saleem, professor of radiology at Cairo University, the woman had a heart attack, instantly killing her in a contracted posture.
