The chairman of the right, MK Naftali Bennett, said last night (Thursday) that he supports full "civil rights" for the proud community in Israel.

In an interview with the Social Network, Bennett was asked about this and replied that he is in favor of "live and let live and respect every human being."

He stressed that he supports the fact that "all civil rights that a straight person has in Israel will also be fully for the LGBT people" and "Whoever wants to live as a LGBT person should receive all the rights like any other person."

Bennett made the remarks after emphasizing that he did not "deal with Jewish law because it is impossible to change the law."

He noted that some of his friends are LGBT people, adding that he is “blind to these things and does not judge a person according to his inclinations.” He said, “I look very much at the personalities of human beings and I love our whole people very, very much.

"A good eye for everyone, including the LGBT community," I love you very, very much and I am sorry that it has become established that I have some kind of problem. "

During his time in the coalition in recent years, Bennett has often voted against bills designed to benefit the proud community, also due to "coalition discipline" and partnership with the ultra-Orthodox.

However, recently when the party blue and white brought to a vote the conversion law designed to ban conversion therapy for men, Bennett and other members of the party New Right were absent from the plenum, while its partners, members of the Knesset faction of the National Union, headed by MK Bezalel, "the big voted against.

In August 2017, then Bennett served as chairman of the Jewish House, a storm erupted within the party after Bennett declared that he did not intend to comply with the demand not to employ his spokesperson on the basis of her sexual orientation.

Bennett wrote at the time that "anyone who thinks that I should discriminate against a person on the basis of his inclination, gender or skin color will encounter a complete refusal on my part. A person is lovable, any person, created in B'Tselem."

Bennett's remarks were made against the background of his strengthening in the polls.

A News 12 poll conducted last week showed that the Likud party won only 26 seats, while the right strengthened and rose to 23 seats.

It is possible that Bennett chose to expand on the issue of proud community rights in an attempt to attract more voters to his party.

His party leadership partner, MK Smutrich, has not yet responded to Bennett's remarks, despite his firm stance against the proud community.
