There is a lot to discover in Erding's business world.

This is what the participants of the city tour “Walk in” with Doris Bauer experienced.

Erding -

Doris Bauer introduces small owner-managed shops in the series “Walk in” as part of a city tour.

After the resounding success of the premiere in summer, the sequel followed in autumn.

We were there.

Twelve years ago, Bauer started her career as a city guide with tours of the Erdinger city tower, which is why she is also known as Doris the tower keeper on social media.

The city tower cannot currently be visited due to the corona, but the small shops can.

But there are also restrictions on these tours.

"Keep your distance, visit the shops only in small groups with a mask, this can be removed outdoors," Bauer explained to the participants of the tour.

The shopkeepers then welcomed the visitors outdoors to introduce themselves and their business.

After that the shops could be entered in groups.

At the starting point in front of the Erdinger Bookmark bookstore, the colorful group was greeted charmingly with a welcome drink by the owners Birgit Stoiber and Susi Neumaier.

The bookstore on Haager Strasse has been around for 18 years, and a few years ago it only moved to the other side of the street.

Stoiber, the first apprentice in the former Deffner bookstore on Kleine Platz, runs the bookmark together with the trained educator Neumaier.

"In addition to books, we also have many gift items and Erding accessories specially designed for us in our feel-good shop," said Stoiber.

There is also a web shop on the Internet through which all books can be ordered.

"The web shop has been used increasingly since the Corona crisis," said the specialist.

The website also met with great interest from a group of the Finsinger trade association who wanted to be inspired by the Erdingen business people.

The next stop was the traditional goldsmith Hoedemaker at Friedrich-Fischer-Straße 2. Owner Guido Krutscher, who runs the business with his mother Elisabeth, talked about the establishment by his grandfather Ferdinand Hoedemaker, who was the first goldsmith to settle in Erding would have.

Even today, the assortment includes pieces of jewelry from small ear studs to expensive watches and jewelry from well-known brands.

Krutscher also makes jewelry himself.

The master goldsmith, who also offers christening gifts, engravings and repairs, was happy to allow visitors a look into his workshop, where his grandfather had already worked.

The group marched across the Munich bridge to Krankenhausstrasse, where the Naschkastl is located.

Karl Ebinger opened it there 32 years ago.

The shop quickly became the dream of many children, who were allowed to buy sweets with their first own pocket money.

Kerstin Wildgruber, who has been running the business with a lot of passion for three years, is still particularly happy about the small customers.

The trained medical assistant and mother of three has chocolate from Belgium, biscuits from England and nougat from Italy as well as American sweets and nostalgic delicacies on offer.

Not to forget the original Nuremberg gingerbread that Bauer raved about.

If you are looking for a special souvenir, you will also find “Sweet Greetings from Erding” with motifs from the ducal city.

The path continued diagonally across Münchener Strasse to the fabric and curtain house, which has been run by Manfred and Heidi Silichner for eight years.

“Our whole family works in the fabric sector all over Lower Bavaria,” said the trained businessman.

In addition to fabrics and haberdashery, he offers an all-round service for curtains for private and commercial customers.

"We come to measure and also professionally attach the curtains to the customer," said the businessman, who had to cope with a sharp decline in the demand for traditional costumes due to the Corona crisis.

But more will be sewn and tinkered with, especially mouth and nose masks, of course, said Silichner.

The next stop was at Traumwiese at Münchner Straße 5, where Elvira Gocht has been running her holistic massage practice since 2013.

“The work around energy work, life counseling and relaxation is my calling,” explained the owner, who originally comes from financial sales.

The color orange, which stands for joie de vivre, can be found everywhere here, even on Gochts' flowered mask.

There was not enough time for longer relaxation.

After a short tour of the practice, the group moved on.

Dimitrios Zarogiannis has been offering a large selection of wines and spirits in his barrel for 20 years, as well as freshly tapped vinegar and oil.

Originally he was a franchisee of the “Vom Faß” chain, but now he sees the advantages of his independent business.

"You can react much better to customer requests and also include small quantities of new products in the range," said the native Greek.

When he visits trade fairs, he makes contact with producers who supply him with wines from all over the world, as well as whiskey and rum.

Zarogiannis complements the range with gift arrangements and delicacies such as pesto or pasta.

The tour participants gladly accepted his concept of being able to try the products on site.

It is also good that it can be filled into bottles that you have brought with you and thus also protects the environment, as Bauer noted.

The participants were enthusiastic about the varied walk.

They were happy about small gifts from the shops they visited.

The keeper Doris' winter magic tea was also packed with pleasure.

Bauer had planned the next walk in city tour for November.

It was already fully booked, but has to be canceled due to the lockdown.

But next year there will definitely be a sequel, the Erdinger assured.
