A spokesperson for the Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Bureau said that the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is a major development strategy for the country’s further reform and opening up. The spokesperson said that the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Development Office is the main contact unit between the SAR government and the mainland authorities, including the central, provincial and municipal authorities, and the Macau SAR government. Its main tasks include strengthening the SAR government’s internal coordination and participation in the construction of the Greater Bay Area. Provide secretariat support to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Steering Committee chaired by the Chief Executive; promote exchanges and cooperation with local stakeholders, and collect their opinions on the opportunities provided by the development of the Greater Bay Area and related policies and measures; strengthen cooperation with the country The Development and Reform Commission, the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, other central government ministries and commissions, the Guangdong Provincial Government, the Macao Special Administrative Region Government, and the municipal governments of major cities in the Greater Bay Area and the Greater Publicity and promotion activities to deepen the community’s understanding of the construction of the Greater Bay Area and the important opportunities it brings to Hong Kong citizens and enterprises.
Yuan Minzhong joined the government in 1985 and has served in various policy bureaus and departments, including the former City and New Territories Administration, Housing Department, former Administration and Information Branch, former Lands and Works Branch, former Economics Branch, Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Washington and former The Treasury Bureau, he served as the Deputy Director of the Government Logistics Service Agency from January 2005 to November 2007, and the Deputy Secretary-General (Planning and Lands Administration) of the Development Bureau from November 2007 to August 2011. He has been appointed as the deputy director of the Beijing Office since September 2008. He has served as Director of the Government Property Agency since 2015. He joined the Constitutional Bureau in January last year.
