Taken for a test drive - and escaped:
Police arrested a Tel Aviv resident over the weekend on suspicion of tricking dozens of electric scooters around the city.
The suspect's arrest was made at the end of an undercover investigation conducted in recent weeks, following the receipt of complaints from various people who pointed to a similar method of subterfuge, in which electric scooters worth tens of thousands of shekels were stolen throughout Gush Dan and even sold to others.
Investigators at the Jaffa station analyzed the complaints which raised the suspicion that a 30-year-old man used to impersonate a potential buyer, and after a brief meeting with the sellers asked to do a "test drive" to the scooter, during which he escaped with him and then sold it to another person.
Jaffa police officers conducted an intensive investigation while using various technological means, which led to the exposure of a Tel Aviv resident suspected of involvement, and at the end of an undercover operation he was located, arrested for interrogation and eventually imprisoned.
In accordance with the findings of the investigation and its needs, the police requested that the detention of the suspect be extended.
The court granted the request and ordered an extension of his detention until tomorrow.
