He was skiing, off the piste, in the company of another person who managed to escape, said the cantonal police of Grisons.
Two other people died Saturday in avalanches in the cantons of Obwalden and Schwyz, in central Switzerland.
The freerider who died in Canton Schwyz was descending a steep slope away from the slopes when a flow 100 to 150 meters wide buried him, even as he triggered his avalanche airbag, said the police.
He died in hospital.
These accidents bring to eleven the number of people killed in avalanches in Switzerland this winter, according to the count of the Swiss press agency ATS.
