When Rubén Antonio Romero (51) left to say goodbye to his daughters, he waited for them to be inside the car to get back in, but they didn't give him time for anything.

It was in seconds that he was intercepted while he was still at the door: he was shot twice.

After fighting for his life at Wilde hospital, the businessman died on Friday, almost two days after the brutal attack.

Romero had

a machine rental company for

large

construction sites

.

He lived in Sarandí and on Wednesday night he had dinner at his house in San Pedro and Zeballos, along with his daughters.

During the first minutes of Thursday, he fired them on the sidewalk.

It was they who heard the shots and came back to assist him.

They immediately transferred him to the hospital where they operated on him urgently and managed to stabilize him.

He was shot in the stomach and another in the neck for which he had to undergo several surgeries.

After the last one, he had been transferred to intensive care, where, despite the efforts of the doctors, he died this Friday.

Judicial sources confirmed to

Clarín

that there is not a single hypothesis about the event and that it is still not clear what happened to it.

Due to the critical condition of the victim, the daughters had not been able to testify at the prosecution office or provide information regarding what they saw or heard, or the context in which the crime occurred.

The victim was attacked after firing her daughters.

One of the lines of investigation points to

an attempted robbery

, but they do not rule out that it was revenge or an alleged adjustment linked to

an economic problem after the sale of a cement factory

.

Another version would point to

a previous debt

that led to the commercial operation.

Investigators remain cautious until the attacker is identified.

It is that, through the images of the security cameras in the area, they presume that the murderer could have acted alone, although with a support vehicle in the vicinity.

A few meters from the place of the murder there is a hypermarket of the Coto chain and nearby is Miter Avenue, one of the busiest in Avellaneda, south of the Conurbano.

Police from the 4th Police Station in Sarandí were the first to intervene.

They went urgently after the neighbors called 911 after hearing the detonations.

There were still blood stains on the sidewalk, but the victim's daughters had already taken him to the nearest health center.

Rubén Romero, with his sister.

The case, which began as an "

attempted homicide,

" was left to the Prosecutor's Office No. 1 of Avellaneda, in charge of Alejandra Olmos Coronel.

"

You left very soon brother

, now that you were happy, happy, enjoying your life. I swear to you that my heart hurts, my soul, you cannot imagine what we are going to miss you. But I know that you will always be by our side, in everything. We will be together again one day ... I love you, brother,

"Sergio Romero posted on his social networks, to fire him.

Rubén Romero had been the president of the Club Social y Deportivo Sol de Oro de Villa Domínico, in his neighborhood.

"

," they spread in a group.
