Adama S. was sentenced this Thursday evening by the Paris Assize Court after admitting the rape in February 2019 of a young woman of 24 years old

He faced twenty years of criminal imprisonment.

He was finally sentenced to seven years in prison without socio-judicial follow-up.

It is a rather lenient verdict for the accused, who fell this Thursday evening at the Assize Court in Paris.

Adama S. appeared since Monday for rape of a vulnerable person.

On February 24, 2019, he crossed paths with J., an American student then aged 24.

The young woman, who had left Los Angeles a month earlier for the passage Jean-Nicot (7th), was returning from a party when Adama S. "helped" her with her friend Jean-Pierre to return home.

At the hearing, he confesses

On the landing of the third floor, the accused began to undress her before entering her "with the fingers", he confessed on Wednesday.

His friend, who had tried to prevent him, had fled before alerting the emergency services.

The trial established that there had indeed been rape and that the student could not consent, in particular because of her advanced state of intoxication.

The prosecution, which required eight years in prison without socio-judicial follow-up, took into account Adama S.'s criminal record and the personality elements described by the experts.

The psychiatrist underlined the “opportunistic” aspect of the crime and felt that “there was no need to be particularly worried” about the risk of recidivism.

The "very intimidating" character of Adama S. suggested that he could realize the gravity of his actions.

"An evolution in his understanding of consent", according to his lawyer

“This case made him think a lot, confirms his lawyer Antoine Ory.

I really felt a shift in his understanding of consent.

According to the defense, "the verdict of the Assize Court is rather balanced".

The accused will not appeal.

The victim was unable to attend his trial.

Traumatized by what she went through, J. returned to her country as quickly as she could.

She now finds it difficult to go out and has trouble trusting men.
