In the future, Sparkasse customers will have to help themselves in some communities in the Starnberg district.

The branches are becoming self-service points because online demand is increasing and only a few go to the bank in person.

District - The Kreissparkasse branches in Berg, Feldafing and Inning, which are currently closed due to the corona, will no longer open in the usual manner.

Instead, they become self-service branches (self-service stands for self-service) where there are no longer any personal contacts available.

In addition, the branch in Krailling will be closed and merged with the one in Planegg.

In the entire area of the Kreissparkasse München-Starnberg-Ebersberg, twelve of the smaller branches (compared to large branches such as in Starnberg) will become self-service points, as spokeswoman Kerstin Brehm announced yesterday.

The company is reacting to the ever decreasing customer frequency on site.

Two out of three customers used the online service and advice on simple questions via digital channels.

Every third person is only in contact with the Sparkasse via the Internet.

"The past year has reinforced this trend," says the press release.

According to Brehm, the employees affected by the changes will not be dismissed.

She will use the Kreissparkasse to strengthen the teams at the larger branch locations (in the district in addition to Starnberg, Gauting, Gilching, Tutzing and Seefeld) and the telephone service center.

"Grown relationships between consultant and customer are preserved as far as possible," said Brehm.

The situation in the financial sector is challenging: the spokeswoman specifically mentions the persistent phase of low interest rates, high regulatory requirements and strong competition.
