Ile-de-France: ways to get hired

2021-05-05T19:31:48.689Z

The economy, like the rest of society, is hoping for the end of the tunnel after the health crisis. 477,000 jobs are to be filled in the region

The fall has been brutal, everyone is now hoping for a post-covid rebound.

The epidemic swept away in a few months the equivalent of years of employment growth in Ile-de-France.

The figures speak for themselves: "Category A unemployment (applicants without any job) jumped 12.3% over one year in Ile-de-France," says Nadine Crinier, regional director of Pôle Emploi.

The national average is “only” 6.8% ”.

The region, as we know, has suffered more than the others because of what has traditionally been its strength: tourism, business fairs, restaurants, automobile, air transport ... were shut down for months at a time of the health war. Result: 100,000 jobs were destroyed in 2020 and unemployment affects 750,700 Ile-de-France residents. “The fall was especially visible in the 1st and 2nd quarter. But recent signs point to some optimism. Unemployment fell by 0.6% in the first quarter of this year ”. A relative breath of fresh air but which still suggests that the recovery is coming.

But we still have to find our arms in the face of job demands. And demand is already strong according to Pôle Emploi, which publishes its quarterly study on Wednesday. According to this study, 477,000 jobs are to be filled in Ile-de-France. “One in four companies intends to hire,” notes Nadine Crinier. In which sectors? Still a bit the same, the crisis hasn't changed that. There are services to individuals (personal assistance, family jobs), finance, real estate, catering, IT and health, security ... And already employers are worried: "36% of 'between them anticipate recruitment difficulties ”.

This is why Pôle Emploi, supported by the Ile-de-France region which has released a substantial budget, is increasing the number of training offers to help the unemployed find their way back to work. In the construction and public works sector alone, for example, needs are estimated at 60,000 jobs. "Both in public works such as the Grand Paris Express, but also in the renovation of housing for individuals" notes the director of Pôle Emploi. But we know the sector does not attract. Image question. “However, most of the job offers are on permanent contracts”. In total, 150,000 training courses are available in Ile-de-France with Pôle Emploi. Now is the time to get started.
