Espelkamp (AP) - A 52-year-old man from Diepenau in Lower Saxony has been in custody since Friday under suspicion of double manslaughter in Espelkamp, East Westphalia.
The Bielefeld District Court issued an arrest warrant against the suspect, as the police and public prosecutor announced on Friday in Bielefeld.
According to the current state of investigations by the homicide squad, the motive for the death of a 48-year-old man and a 51-year-old woman on Thursday in Espelkamp is family.
An autopsy result was not yet available on Friday afternoon.
The victims were found in a row of houses in the town in East Westphalia.
It is unclear whether the suspect from Diepenau, around 13 kilometers from Espelkamp, has commented on the crime.
The police did not provide information on the nationality of the perpetrators and victims on Friday.
The police did not want to say what family relationship the two victims had to each other or to the perpetrator.
The 51-year-old woman and the 48-year-old man were found on Thursday around 11.15 a.m. in Espelkamp in a row of houses.
The bodies were about 100 meters apart.
The man was already dead, the woman died after attempted resuscitation by the rescue workers on site.
Local residents heard four shots.
The suspect was caught in the evening around 5:30 p.m. in Lower Saxony by special police forces in his place of residence by a small lake in the Lavelsloh district.
According to the police, he fell and suffered abrasions.
At first there was talk of a rampage in media reports - but the police immediately denied this.
The alleged motive is "in the family area", as the public prosecutor and police announced on Friday afternoon.
