If the bells of the Siegertsbrunn Leonhardikirche are struck in a special way, then it is either Leahats or a special occasion.
The latter can also be sad when a member of the Leonhardi Committee is buried.
This is what happened with Johann Baptist Guggenberger, who was accompanied by the ringing of the bell on his last way to the Leonhardi cemetery.
Siegertsbrunn
- The 93-year-old Johann Guggenberger, whom everyone just called Hans, was an honorary member and “a man from the very beginning” of the Leonhardi Committee, as chairman Hans Loidl states. Because Guggenberger had been there since 1950 - and with passion. For many years he lovingly cared for the two model churches Sankt Peter and Sankt Leonhard, which are an integral part of the bypass. He often helped organize the horses so that the church buildings could be driven accordingly. Everything should just fit. And the response was always positive. Loidl: “The wonderfully decorated churches were a feast for the eyes for the many festival visitors every year.” And Guggenberger made sure that his legacy for Siegertsbrunn was honored after moving to Grafing (Ebersberg district). It was always his wish that the model churches have their permanent location outside the Leahat in the Guggenberger barn.
Known for his helpfulness in the village
And even if he did not come to his place of birth Siegertsbrunn as often because his health did not always allow it, Guggenberger was always a quiet observer, especially of course around the Leonhardifest. "He visibly enjoyed it when his descendants, children and grandchildren of the Öttl, Müller and Guggenberger families built the model churches in the barn and furnished them splendidly," says Loidl, who had known the farmer Hans Guggenberger since he was a child. Loidl still remembers the following event: “When I was a boy in the mid-1950s, I fetched milk every day, and sometimes I gave him a Guadl as a present. He was always extremely friendly and nice to me. ”His helpfulness and generosity were known in the village:"You just love to like Guggenberger Hans."
Engaged in various clubs
Leonhard Karl, chairman of the fire brigade club, emphasizes that the deceased was also loyal to other clubs: "Hans was a member of the Siegertsbrunn fire brigade for 76 years." Between 1969 and 1972 he was chairman, for a time also an ensign.
He also belonged to the warrior and soldier comradeship in Siegertsbrunn.
Guggenberger's name is always associated with the Leonhardifest.
A few years ago he sat next to the then mayor Ursula Mayer in the carriage of honor and enjoyed the trip.
The festival and especially the drive around made him happy.
If this year the Leahats takes place in a slimmed-down form due to the corona, Hans Guggenberger will be absent, but he will not be forgotten by taking part in the model churches.
