The verdict of reason, humanity and the law: thirty years of criminal imprisonment were pronounced Wednesday against Hubert Caouissin for the murder of Pascal, Brigitte, Charlotte and Sébastien Troadec, committed in February 2017 near Nantes.
His companion at the time, Lydie Troadec (Pascal's sister), was sentenced to three years in prison (the maximum sentence she incurred), including a suspended sentence for receiving corpses and altering the crime scene.

Six jurors and three magistrates, five men and four women, deliberated for more than seven hours.
It would have taken at least six votes out of nine for the life imprisonment required by the prosecution (which had also requested a 22-year security period) to be imposed on the main accused.
Reason and humanity prevailed: the Assize Court considered that Hubert Caouissin, paranoid to the last degree, was under the influence of a change in his judgment at the time of the facts.
