No end in sight - THW helpers from the districts of Ebersberg and Erding continue to help in Ahrweiler
Markt Schwaben / Ahrweiler - Further units of the Technical Relief Organization (THW) from Markt Schwaben to the areas affected by heavy rain. The volunteers from the THW Markt Schwaben are now on duty in the affected Ahrweiler region for a week. The second week of operations has already started for the THW specialist group for rooms from Markt Schwaben. With heavy equipment, the helpers from the clearing department do their part to support the people affected by the storm in the Ahrweiler region. Equipped with the modern excavator that the THW Markt Schwaben received a year and a half ago, the emergency services there are doing great things. In this way, they make streets passable for residents again and free buildings such as schools and hospitals from rubble, rubbish and mud.
After the mobile flood level troop from the THW Markt Schwaben had successfully installed several measuring stations to monitor the water levels, its deployment was completed. After the start of the second week of deployment, however, a THW management component now supports the coordination of the emergency services. The helpers of this component set up command points, lead one or more specialist groups and form the interface to the operations management.
Thanks to the same training and equipment throughout Germany, THW employees can provide technical assistance across the region. The volunteers have a wide range of technical know-how and extensive experience from past operations. In the coming weeks, too, the people in the affected areas can rely on the expertise and work of the THW. - Paul Scheidt
