Probably only the next federal government will deal with the financing gap of the health insurance companies. For the FDP, the consequences for contributors are already becoming clear.

The FDP is assuming a significant increase in health insurance contributions in the next year.

This is due to the hesitant handling of the Federal Ministry of Health with a federal subsidy for the statutory health insurance.

The ministry will no longer deal with the issue before the general election.

That emerges from an answer to a written question from the FDP.

Accordingly, the expenditure and income of the statutory health insurance for the current and coming year should be estimated by October 15th.

»The expansion of services under Jens Spahn led to enormous increases in expenditure even before Corona, which were not financed by the other.

In order to comply with the social guarantee, the health minister would have had to act long ago, «says the health policy spokeswoman for the parliamentary group, Christine Aschenberg-Dugnus.

The health insurance companies would now be facing a billion-dollar financial deficit in 2022.

The federal cabinet had last decided on an additional federal subsidy for statutory health insurance in the amount of seven billion euros for 2022.

The additional federal grant will increase by two billion euros compared to 2021.

However, the FDP does not consider this to be sufficient.

Health insurance companies are also warning of a widening funding gap.

According to the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Funds, all reserves were used up during the corona pandemic.

The association speaks of gaps in the double-digit billion range.
