A strong earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale rocked today the Solomon Islands in the Pacific Ocean, without reports of injuries or damage.
According to the US Seismological Center, the earthquake struck at a depth of 22.6 km, and its epicenter was located 155 km from the town of Buala in the Solomon Islands at 8,877 degrees south of latitude and 158,482 degrees east of longitude.
The Solomon Islands are part of the Pacific "Ring of Fire", an area known for frequent seismic activity and volcanic eruptions.
