Damascus-SANA

A new experience experienced by the Gardenia women's choir through its first lyrical visual theatrical show entitled "One Night After a Thousand", led by the able musician Ghada Harb, which was hosted over two days by the Opera Theater at Dar Al-Assad for Culture and Arts.

The show, written by Anna Akash, composed for music by Safana Bakla, and trained by Ghada Harb, was inspired by the stories of the Thousand and One Nights, but with different visions.

The heroine of the show One Night After a Thousand Scheherazade, played by the academic singer Sana Barakat, recounting her famous tales of her husband Shahryar, who killed a thousand women in his kingdom, and the baritone singer Michael Tadros played his role. anymore.

The lyrical theatrical show was built by narrating approximately 11 stories, during which new songs were presented. The show also used graphic technology to make its scenes integrated with technical and technical elements, signed by Nadine Al-Habel.

Through his viewing, the show carried a societal message through which he broke the common image of women in general, and came out of the mantle of stereotyping that had put them in a place far from their truth, so that the show finally expresses women's visions according to a new view that leads to changing events.

They reflected the three scenes that the show consisted of, including three basic visions. The first dealt with the dialogue of choir singers, Scheherazade, and her sister, Dunyazad, whose role was supportive of her sister's decisions, and her role was performed by singer Heba Fahmeh.

The second scene presents a renewal on the level of the idea, where Scheherazade's brainchild emerges from her book and turns into real characters, telling their stories in their own way and expressing their views, emphasizing that unique stories have new endings after their voices were absent in the tales of One Thousand and One Nights through the ages.

Among the stories dealt with in the show is the story of the courtship of the maid who is skilled in all sciences and arts, whom the Caliph abandoned to pay his debts, and the story of Nour al-Nahar, a kind, noble girl who was loved by her three cousins and traveled the country to bring her the greatest dowry accepted by her father, the Sultan, to talk about her desire for the show.

Among the striking characters of the show is a princess who has no name, as in the story of Fatima, in condemnation of the narrators' efforts to omit the names of some of the characters in their stories without a compelling reason.

The show presents narrations that are different from the famous stories, as in the story of Dalila, so we find her daughter Zainab, who was absent in the original novel, and she has something to say in the Gardena Show, and the same thing is repeated with the story of Queen Zumurud, the maid who disguised herself as a man and ruled a city. change it.

As for Badr Al-Badour, one of the famous characters of One Thousand and One Nights as the princess whom Aladdin loved and married with the help of the magic lamp genie and rescued her from the evil wizard, she lived her life happily and prosperously presented by the show “One Night After a Thousand” in a different and new way.

In the third scene in the lyrical theatrical performance, the cry of the characters of the stories and their rebellion against the original novel appears, as the rebellion affects Scheherazade and demands Shahryar to live a normal life without being subjected to the fear of being killed on the second day.

The Gardenia choir dream was realized by presenting a lyrical theatrical performance with integrated elements, which reflects the development of the performance of choir singers and their insistence on conveying humanitarian messages through music, not only for women, but for the entire community.

It is noteworthy that the Gardenia Women’s Coral includes a group of singers, professors and students of the Higher Institute of Music, who have distinctive voices and professional knowledge of the techniques of group and solo singing, which was founded and led by Ghada Harb, opera singer of the soprano class and a professor at the Higher Institute of Music. She was taught by the Russian Babenko.
