Around 1.3 million Saxony-Anhalters borrowed something in the state's libraries in 2020.
Around five million media were used, as the state department for public libraries announced on Libraries Day on Sunday.
There are currently 184 public libraries in the country.
The libraries feel the pressure of competition from changing forms of media usage enormously.

Reading is just one leisure activity among many.
More and more libraries therefore tried to make media accessible online.
