According to the provisional autopsy report, the child's death "
could result from hypothermia
", said the magistrate, preferring "to
remain cautious about the causes and circumstances of the child's death
".
Around 8 a.m. on Sunday, the couple of parents, from the community of Travelers, presented themselves at the Maintenon fire station with their little boy in cardio-respiratory arrest.
The child died shortly after, despite attempts by firefighters to resuscitate.
If bruises and contusions were indeed found on the boy's body, "
forensic pathologists seem to believe that the blows are not the direct cause of death,
" Rémi Coutin told AFP, confirming information from
L ' Republican echo
.
"Unable to explain himself clearly and coherently"
The forensic pathologists at Garches hospital (Hauts-de-Seine) still have to perform “
additional anatomopathological examinations
,” he said. “
The father was unable to explain himself clearly and coherently. We have very vague and incoherent explanations
, ”underlined Rémi Coutin. “
It seems that the child was outside for a number of hours overnight from Saturday to Sunday. Why did he stay outside? We don't know
, ”added the prosecutor. The hearings of the mother, as a witness, as well as of relatives, “
did not allow us to acquire certainty about the circumstances of the child's death. It is now up to the investigating judge to carry out all the useful investigations
”,according to the prosecutor.
