The General Assembly of the United Nations adopted, by majority, two resolutions in favor of Palestine, one concerning the occupied city of Jerusalem and the other on solving the Palestinian issue.
The Palestinian News Agency, Wafa, stated that the two resolutions adopted by the United Nations General Assembly by an overwhelming majority in its session yesterday, where the resolution on the occupied city of Jerusalem reiterated that any measures taken by the occupation authorities to change the character of the city are null and void and must be stopped with the need to preserve the historical and legal situation in the city in addition to A second resolution is related to resolving the Palestinian issue in order to bring peace and stability to the Middle East.
The Permanent Representative of Palestine to the United Nations, Riyad Mansour, said, “The responsibility of the United Nations towards the question of Palestine is clear and remains vital, since the catastrophe that befell the Palestinian people after the General Assembly’s resolution to partition historic Palestine is still continuing after 74 years with generations deprived of their basic human rights and still carries misery. Exiles as refugees alongside more than half a century of colonial Israeli occupation.”
Mansour explained that the failure to hold the occupation authorities accountable for their crimes, systematic violations of human rights, war crimes and settlement plans allowed them to escape punishment in flagrant violation of international law and UN resolutions, calling on the international community to move to implement its relevant resolutions, end the occupation and preserve the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people.
