Latakia-SANA
The Directorate of Agriculture in Lattakia has finished disbursing the second batch of compensation to those affected by the fires that broke out on the 9th and 10th of October of last year, according to the program it prepared to distribute compensation within the villages.
The Director of Agriculture, Engineer Basem Doba, explained that the value of the compensation amounts to about 6,405.6 billion Syrian pounds, and as a result of the inability of some to come on time to receive their dues in their villages, a number of centers have been identified, distributed at the governorate level, to facilitate procedures for them and reduce costs for them.
He pointed out that the rest of the compensation will be disbursed to farmers in Al-Haffah and Lattakia areas within the Department of the Drought Mitigation Fund and Natural Disasters in Buqa and in the building of the Department of Agriculture in Qardaha to the affected farmers in the Qardaha area, while the affected farmers in the Jableh area can receive their compensation from the headquarters of the Jableh Agriculture Department.
On the first of last November, the directorate began disbursing compensation to the affected people, benefiting 19,866 farmers, according to a program through which compensation was delivered to them in their villages.
The value of the second payment of compensation is equivalent to 25 percent of the entire compensation, as the directorate disbursed 50 percent of it during the past year immediately after the fires, with the third and final payment to be delivered next year.
