The main suspect, born in 2000 and who had only one entry in his criminal record, admitted the murder during his custody at the weekend, according to his lawyer Me Sébastien Bonnet.
His client, who risks life imprisonment, “
understood the seriousness of his gesture, it was a relief for him,
” added Me Bonnet.

Another defendant was indicted for "
concealing a corpse
" and "
altering the crime scene
" before being also remanded in custody.
A third man is being prosecuted for "
not denouncing a crime
".
The latter was left free under judicial control.
"Self-defense"
According to a source familiar with the matter, the main suspect was in conflict with the victim, a 23-year-old man, who was his supplier of narcotics in Nancy and to whom he owed a debt: he says he acted in "
self-defense
" because according to him the victim would have first stabbed him in the arm.
After having recognized during his police custody having killed the victim with a knife, he indicated to the police the place where he had buried the body, in the forest of Épinal.
The period to which the facts go back remains unclear.
