Bad Wiessee - The mobile phone company Vodafone has closed a radio gap between Bad Wiessee and Lenggries.

The Aueralm makes this possible.

Vodafone announced that anyone who is hiking or cycling between Lenggries and Bad Wiessee or who lives on the Tegernsee now has a better network.

Vodafone recently put a new cell phone station into operation on the Aueralm in the Bad Wiessee community on the Tegernsee.

Around 3,000 residents and numerous guests in the Miesbach district would benefit from this infrastructure measure, according to the company, as they will find significantly better mobile phone coverage in the future.

"With this location, we are particularly supplying the outside area between Lenggries and Bad Wiessee," explains Christian Schilling, Head of Political Communication South Germany at Vodafone.

"This will bring even more mobile broadband to the Tegernsee tourist region and more security for when out and about in alpine terrain."

The new station will initially be equipped with GSM cellular technology for cell phone calls and emergency calls, in which the caller's location is transmitted to the rescue control center, as well as LTE for crystal-clear telephony and mobile Internet. At a later point in time, antennas for the next generation of 5G mobile communications and, consequently, real-time communication will also be installed. According to a press release, Vodafone will bear the investment costs entirely from its own resources.

After a network analysis, the company decided at the beginning of 2018 to close so-called white spots in the Tegernsee region on its own, including the Aueralm in the municipality of Bad Wiessee.

The company is silent about the amount of the costs.

Vodafone finally installed the new antennas on a mast of the official radio.

Extensive preparatory work was necessary for this in order to be connected to the electricity and global communication network.
