The state of Bremen is to be declared a hotspot because of the situation in the clinics, according to the will of Health Senator Claudia Bernhard (left).
The reason is the high occupancy of the hospitals with corona patients and acute staff shortages there.
Bernhard informed the Senate and the government factions about this, said her spokesman Lukas Fuhrmann.
Bremen – The “Weser-Kurier” had previously reported on this on Friday.
Above all, the step should make it possible to wear masks again in public interiors, said the spokesman.
The Senate wants to deal with the issue next Tuesday, and the state parliament must then decide on the step.
"More and more positive patients and the equally positive staff who are then absent are already leading to significantly reduced treatment capacities in Bremen's hospitals.
Transfers within Bremen are hardly possible, and the surrounding area of Lower Saxony can no longer accept patients," said Senator Bernhard of the newspaper.
Regular operation in the clinics is only partially possible.
According to health policy spokeswoman Ilona Osterkamp-Weber, the Greens faction basically supports the short-term and late advance.
"In view of the increasing incidences and the tense situation in the clinics and in the health care system, protective measures should remain binding." The SPD parliamentary group wants to submit the proposal to a legal review.
"Here the justice department is now required to what extent the local infection situation allows this at all," explained the chairman Mustafa Güngör.
"It makes no sense that we end up in doubt before the administrative court."
