Woman looking for computer bag

2022-04-19T08:37:35.800Z

TREND - The post-Covid world has created new needs, which sometimes turn into a challenge. Finding a tote that can hold a laptop without swearing with heels is one.

Since teleworking has become widespread in my company, I have had to transport my computer much more often

, says Marie, an insurance executive.

I slip it into a large cotton shopping bag, protected in a padded pocket, with my files and the children's things.

Regularly, I find myself having to unpack everything on my landing, when looking for my keys.

Not to mention the weight of this gear, concentrated on one shoulder…”

Claire, a finance manager, manages to slip her Microsoft Surface Pro into her Lady Dior,

“wide format”

and admits

gladly

“the size of (her) handbags has increased since the Covid crisis”

.

She alternates, depending on her outfits, between Louis Vuitton's Neverfull, Celine's Phantom (released in 2011, at the time of Phoebe Philo, one of the first large sizes she acquired) and a Chanel quilted in her version max.

“Whatever it costs, I refuse to carry one of those nylon bags you find in computer stores

,” she confides with conviction.

Their form, very masculine, puts me off.

Some of my colleagues have the excuse of cycling to carry a backpack, often from the Sandqvist brand.

However, the stylistic result with a suit and a pair of heels is not unanimous.

Stylish and elegant

After a hard search, it turns out that the models intended to house a laptop are legion but most resemble (at best) a banker's briefcase rather than an elegant and… feminine accessory.

The comparison between Net-a-porter e-shops and Mr Porter, its version for men, is eloquent.

On the first, there isn't much besides the sacrosanct tote bag.

From Dior to Ganni via Saint Laurent and Chloé, everyone has released an XXL tote, no doubt to meet this new need of city dwellers.

Much less practical than the

briefcase

chic with reinforced pocket, removable shoulder strap and first-hand leather, ultra-represented on the second site.

For this selection, it was difficult to find even five laptop bags that were as stylish as they were functional.

An observation that Alexandre Rousseau, co-founder of Bleu de Chauffe, made before releasing the Dalva, his

"business bag"

for ladies.

"

Our starting point for this product, which works very well, was to combine an elegant exterior and a well-thought-out interior

," explains the manager of this brand of messenger bags, inspired by old craft bags, based in Saint-Georges- de-Luzençon.

We just had to look around us on the street to realize that nothing like it existed.

Or so little...
