There is "Birchland's smallest maypole by far" now in Kinsau: Birkland's country youth boss Toni Pröbstl wears "Bachtaler" landlady Anna-Maria Baumgartner as a thank you.

"Such a super landlady simply has to be carried on hands": That's what Birkland's country youth board member Toni Pröbstl said loudly in front of his team.

Say it, spit on your hands and lift Anna-Maria Baumgartner up.

Birkland/Kinsau

- Why?

Quite simply: A small maypole caused a lot of excitement in advance.

As "Birchland's smallest maypole by far", the piece of wood made headlines (we reported).

In order to erect a new maypole, which took more than two years due to Corona, the Birkländer rural youth did not want to leave the iron bracket so "bare" in the center of the village and decided to use the lower part of the old maypole there as a to leave a visible interim solution.

On May 1st, when the Birkländer rural youth's new maypole was ceremoniously erected, there was a great supporting program with an auction that was quite something.

Rustic benches and chairs made from the trunk of the old maypole sold like hot cakes.

Michael Staltmayr made sure of that with his loosely fluffy sayings as auctioneer.

A bidding war ensued, Baumgartner won

Of course, as a special treat, he also offered “Birchland's smallest maypole by far”.

A bidding war ensued, and Anna-Maria Baumgartner from Kinsau was the lucky winner.

"I really wanted to have the great piece so that I could present it as a showpiece and centerpiece at the opening of our 'Bachtaler Biergarten' in Kinsau," says the young landlady.

“But who is putting that weighty piece up there?” was the question that still had to be clarified.

No problem, Julian Resch, Anna-Maria's partner, took over the "wooden horse trade": "If the rural youth from Birkland bring the special maypole, everyone gets free beer," was his offer, which of course was quickly sealed with a handshake.

No sooner said than done: Birkländer are marching to Kinsau

Birkland's country youth board member Toni Pröbstl was now at the wheel of his old Eicher Bulldog himself, carting the tribe from Birkland to Kinsau in a loading wagon.

The team followed at a leisurely pace.

"We were on the road for an hour," was later heard from the Birkländer at the beer table.

After all, breaks had to be taken to take a sip from the beer bottle or get a hug from one of the nice girls - people said later at the beer table.

Setting it up afterwards was just a formality.

"In any case, there is now a great eye-catcher in the middle of the 'Bachtaler beer garden'", was the unanimous opinion of the guests last Whitsunday - thanks to the landlady Anna-Maria.
