According to the Tucher festival host Fritz Striegel, the city of Erlangen charges too high fees for festival hosts and showmen at the Erlangen Bergkirchweih.

Erlangen – Tucher landlord Fritz Striegel makes no secret of his frustration.

“The city of Erlangen's fees for the Bergkirchweih have been increased by around 25 percent this year.

The town hall urgently needs to stop the spiraling costs," said Striegel to the assembled city leaders openly and without hesitation recently, straight to the face.

"The city does not want to earn anything at the Bergkirchweih," assured mountain consultant Konrad Beugel (CSU).

The "mountain fees" are to be understood as ancillary costs for a rented apartment.

Because the city, as the organizer of the folk festival, has to spend more money on cleaning and security, for example, the fees have actually been increased significantly this year.

According to Fritz Striegel, more and more bureaucracy and administration, such as the correct attachment of the fly screens, would slowly but surely ruin the landlords at the Bergkirchweih.

Erlangen Bergkirchweih: Tucher host criticizes – bureaucracy spoils the mood

Tucher landlord Fritz Striegel still sticks to his criticism.

In addition to the rising costs, the rampant bureaucracy would spoil the mood of the host at the Bergkirchweih.

For example, the administration itself would be interested in the correct attachment of fly screens.

Here the knuckles roast on the grill without a grid, there the kitchen in the Kellerwald would have to be adapted to the regulations, Striegel shakes his head.

Fritz Striegel is annoyed by the rampant bureaucracy at the Bergkirchweih: Here people cook behind bars, there knuckles are grilled without a grille.

The "Tucher-Wirt", who in normal life outside of the "fifth season" runs the hotel inn "Alter Brunnen" in beautiful Marloffstein just outside the city gates of Erlangen, does not yet know whether he wants to continue under these circumstances.

Erlangen: Will Augustiner soon flow at the Bergkirchweih?

Also because the future of the cellar is still not clear.

"Maybe Augustiner beer will be flowing here soon." The background to the uncertainty is the ownership situation.

The “Tucher-Keller” no longer belongs to the Nuremberg brewery, but to the wealthy Inselkammer family of entrepreneurs from Upper Bavaria.

And this in turn belongs to the famous Augustiner brewery in Munich.

According to Striegel, the owner family has not yet made any specific statements about the future of the small but fine Erlangen beer cellar.

Extensive renovation work is urgently needed.

Erlangen Bergkirchweih: "It is worth something that all the cellar owners come from Erlangen"

Meanwhile, Lord Mayor Florian Janik (SPD) hopes that Striegel will continue on the "Tucher-Keller" next year, despite all the problems and difficulties.

"It's worth something that all the cellar owners come from Erlangen," said Janik, who said he didn't want to have "discotheque operators" as hosts at the Erlangen Bergkirchweih.
