Straubing – After a two-year Corona break, folk festivals are coming up again this year.
From August 12th to 24th there will also be celebrations at the Gäuboden folk festival in Straubing.

But even if a lot of things feel more normal again: Corona is not over yet.
That is why the Straubing Clinic recommends a booster vaccination before visiting the folk festival.
The end of the measures let Corona fade into the background, the clinic writes in a message entitled “Incidence is increasing, vaccination protection is decreasing, folk festival is approaching – Straubing Clinic recommends boosters”.

Christoph Scheu, Managing Director of the Straubing Clinic, about the corona virus.
In order to be prepared for full beer tents, the doctor urgently advises a booster vaccination: "Now is the right time: because the old vaccination protection is weak after six months and the booster works immediately, a few days after the vaccination."

"Really carefree celebrations are best after a booster vaccination," says the clinic's managing director.
The reason: the vaccination protection decreases after three months, after six months it has almost disappeared.
"With the vaccination you are well protected until late autumn and can then get the omicron-adapted vaccination." The current vaccine protects well against omicron and its subtypes in the first few months after the renewed vaccination, it is said.
It makes sense to get vaccinated now instead of waiting for the adapted vaccine.
Because when this will be approved and will ultimately be available is currently still unclear, according to the clinic.
“Delays are to be expected,” the clinic said.
If the adapted vaccine is only on the market, there could be long waiting times again, since older people and those with previous illnesses are then given priority again.
"So come now and without waiting for the booster vaccination so that you can go to the Gäuboden folk festival without any worries," appeals Dr.
