The 29-year-old man from Hesse arrested in connection with the death of a student in southern Baden is said to have molested a student in the spring.
A spokesman for the Gießen public prosecutor's office said that a criminal complaint had been filed against the accused on suspicion of attempted coercion since Tuesday.
The Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung
had previously
reported on it.
At the end of April, the man is said to have tried to coerce a 17-year-old girl into a relationship through text messages, among other things.
At the beginning of May, a criminal complaint was filed against the 29-year-old with the police in Friedberg.
The various measures taken after this display also included addressing a threat.
At the time of the incident, the man, a convicted sex offender, was no longer under managerial supervision.
According to the State Criminal Police Office, this was ended in court at the beginning of the year.
The man was also removed from the program of the Central Office for the Monitoring of Sex Offenders at Risk of Recidivism (ZÜRS).
The aim of the concept is to protect the population from sex offenders who have already been convicted and are at risk of recidivism when they are released from prison or prison.

reports online, the surveillance was discontinued by court order in early 2022.

Freiburg – In the Ayleen murder case, many questions remain unanswered, such as the cause of death, possible crime scene and motive.
But a suspect is in custody for confiscation of minors, sexual assault and murder with intent to cover up.
The 29-year-old German initially denied the crime and is silent.
The alleged perpetrator is not unknown.
As a teenager, at the age of 14, he is said to have attacked an eleven-year-old girl from behind.
The police searched for the missing 14-year-old student from Gottenheim (Baden-Württemberg) for ten days.
Then her body is discovered on a lake in Hesse.
On the same day, investigators arrested the 29-year-old.
The alleged perpetrator is a convicted sex offender.
Ayleen Murder Case - Was the Suspect Insufficiently Supervised?
"The case concerns a 29-year-old German citizen who was placed in a psychiatric hospital as a teenager in 2007 for an attempted sexual offense.
The accommodation lasted 10 years and ended in 2017," senior public prosecutor Dieter Inhofer, head of the Freiburg public prosecutor's office, told journalists on Monday.
The investigators left open further information about the perpetrator, his job and the family environment.
According to the authorities, the suspect was placed under supervision after his release in 2017.
Participated in the sex offender integration program designed to reduce their risk of recidivism.
The program expired for the man in January 2022.
Apparently the man was looking for a new victim, as the reports by the Freiburg criminal director Arno Englen suggest.
He and the girl knew each other from weeks of chats on social networks and through the online game Fortnite.
Huge amounts of data and chat logs still have to be evaluated.
But the Internet data of the 14-year-olds led to the suspect.
By locating cell phones, the investigators found out that the suspect stayed at Teufelsee in Wetteraukreis (Hesse) for a long time on Friday night (July 22nd).
As a result, the area of the lake was searched with police helicopters on July 29.
A body was floating on the lake.
According to the investigators, the 29-year-old brought Ayleen to Hesse in his car on July 21.
According to the police, they do not yet know whether the girl entered voluntarily.
Evaluations of further data and chat logs are still pending.
The cell phone of the suspect was logged into a radio cell at Teufelsee in the night of July 21 to 22.
Prosecutors assume that "something happened" that night.
The police searched the home of the 29-year-old suspect on Thursday (July 28).
Objects belonging to the missing 14-year-old were found.
Investigators arrested the suspect on Friday (July 29).
The accused first denied the crime and has been silent ever since.
On the same day (July 29) a body is discovered at Teufelsee.
24 hours later, using DNA analysis, it is clear that it is the missing 14-year-old Ayleen from Baden-Württemberg.
The 14-year-old's body probably floated in the water for days.
This complicates the work of the medical examiner.
A first autopsy yielded no results.
The cause of death is still open.
So far, there is no trace of the possible crime scene.
Investigators still have many questions.
