In the planned renovation of the Maisach middle school, the costs are running away.

The initially targeted 2.1 have become 7.4 million euros.

Maisach/Egenhofen – Because the renovation of the Maisach middle school will probably cost at least 7.4 million euros, the work must be put out to tender throughout Europe.

It is unclear what will be funded.

The procedure will be started – but then in a year a decision will be made as to what is affordable.

Marcus Greulich from the municipal building authority presented the state of affairs to the municipal council - after there had recently been ambiguities.

It all started a year ago when the architect in charge of the school association, to which Egenhofen belongs, presented the plans.

At that time it had been planned to renew the ceiling and floor.

That could have been done for around 2.1 million.

However, it was already clear that investments had to be made in equipping the classrooms with media technology.

In the course of further meetings and gatherings, further wishes were added: the renovation of the leaking flat roof, the dismantling of the toilet wing including new pipes and - due to the corona - the installation of a permanent ventilation system.

Cost of these items: 3.2 million euros.

Makes a total of 5.3 million euros.

Threshold exceeded

After consultation with experts, it turned out that the sum had grown to such an extent that a Europe-wide tender could not be avoided.

In addition, estimated expenses of 200,000 euros for the area of heating, ventilation and sanitation appeared.

Due to the general cost increases, however, these have meanwhile exceeded the threshold value of 215,000 euros that applies in this area: A Europe-wide tender is therefore necessary here too.

That makes everything more complicated - not to mention the resulting time delay.

Submit room requirements with Realschule

The current cost estimate now provides for around 7.4 million euros for the renovation of the middle school.

When building official Marcus Greulich named the sum, the beamer gave up the ghost, to the horror of the municipal council.

Treasurer Angelika Braunmüller reported to the municipal council about the subsidy options.

When building a new school, you know exactly what funding you will receive.

It's different with refurbishments: Here there are only grants for general refurbishments.

Therefore, it is now being checked whether the project is such.

Middle and junior high schools, some of which share rooms, must apply for space requirements.

In addition, the costs for a new building must be estimated and offset against - so that it is clear that a renovation is worthwhile compared to a new building.

Mayor Hans Seidl (CSU) said on how to proceed that after the holidays in the municipal council one would have to discuss savings.

As a result, they want to go into the complex procedure of the EU tender.

You won't hear anything more about the project for about a year: more detailed information on costs and possible grants will only be available in the summer of 2023.

Then you have to decide how to proceed.
