Spain calls on women to swim topless to "fight discrimination" (Igualat i Feminismes)
Women, want to fight sexual discrimination?
Swim without a bra!
This message was recently conveyed by the authorities in Catalonia, Spain.
This is as part of a campaign that aims to try to put an end to the sexual objectification of the woman's body.
The Ministry of Equality and Feminism in Catalonia produced an advertising campaign aimed at promoting women's rights and their right to swim topless in public in pools.
This campaign came out after many women complained that they were forbidden to even sunbathe in the sea without a top.
"Sexualization of women starts when they are young and accompanies us all our lives. The fact that we have to cover our breasts in certain places is another proof of that."
It was written in a video published on the occasion of International Topless Day.
The campaign also highlights the double standard that exists in modern society, whereby men can go shirtless in public with bare chest, but women who do so are shamed, and even fined or arrested for being naked in public.
La sexualització de les #dones commencia de ben petites i ens apagita tota la vida
Que ens haguem de coberter els pits en alguns espais n'és una mostra.
És també #discriminació

In the ad you can see a figure of a man with the inscription "This breastfeeder is free", accompanied by a picture of a woman without a bra covering her breast with her hands and with the caption: "This breastfeeder is not".
"We wanted to fight the sexual discrimination that women experience when they go topless in different situations such as in pools. Women have the right to express themselves with their bodies," explained one of the leaders of the campaign.
In principle, women in Spain can go topless on public beaches, but local authorities are allowed to enact their own laws regarding pools within their jurisdiction and even regarding private pools.
