Extensive renovation work is pending in the elementary and middle school in Tutzing.

The middle school students therefore had to move.

They are now being taught at the telecommunications school in Feldafing.

Tutzing/Feldafing – Tutzing's mayor calls it a "project of the century" for the municipality.

A total of around 25 million euros will probably flow into the renovation of the Tutzing primary and secondary school, says Marlene Greinwald.

Work on the listed old elementary school building is to start soon.

Extensive measures are also planned for the middle school sector.

The middle school students were therefore outsourced for this and probably the next two school years.

At the start of the school year on Tuesday, they had their first lesson in a building on the grounds of the Bundeswehr Telecommunications School in Feldafing.

The community has rented space there.

The move was a "logistical tour de force", says Greinwald.

Right on time for the start of the school year, everything was sorted out except for “a few teething problems”.

All the school furniture needed, including the furnishing of rooms for technical classes and parts of the school kitchen, had to be brought from Tutzing to Feldafing.

Upgrading the alternative quarters cost around one million euros.

"We now have beautiful, large and bright rooms there," says Deputy Principal Marianne Frenzloff.

“I was a little worried that we would not be able to do it all.

But it has started very well now.”

A second challenge was the organization of the school transport to the telecommunications school

A second challenge was the organization of the school transport to the telecommunications school.

A total of 130 students - one class each from grades five to nine, plus a preparatory class for the middle school certificate and a bridging class for students from the Ukraine - have to go to Feldafing in the morning and back again at noon.

Anyone who used to come to Tutzing by school bus can now simply remain seated.

The buses continue to the barracks.

Pupils from Tutzing themselves, who used to walk, have to get up a little earlier.

You can board at 7:40 a.m. at the school bus stop on Traubinger Strasse.

In the telecommunications school, classes for middle school students begin at 8:15 a.m.

But if you miss the school bus in Tutzing in the morning, you will probably be too late.

The next bus to the telecommunications school doesn't leave until half past eight.

The return transport and the trips to the sports lessons also had to be organised.

The fact that some classes have afternoon classes did not make things any easier.

Five hours a week of differentiated physical education classes would be eliminated because of the bus connections, according to the state school board in the district office.

The logistical effort increases for the teachers

There are no problems with access to the site, the provisional school building was fenced off from the security area of the barracks.

For the teachers, however, the logistical effort increases.

Because the school management and administration will remain in Tutzing.

The rooms for the elementary school students have already been renovated, says Mayor Greinwald.

One would currently still wait for room ventilation systems.

Months ago, the municipality ordered individual room fans so that the windows didn’t have to be constantly opened to air them out in winter because of Corona.

But there are delivery problems.
