The decision of the Erding city council that only cold showers are allowed in city sports halls was also discussed at the CSU morning pint.

Erding – actionism or consistent implementation of the federal energy saving guidelines?

The city's decision to no longer provide hot water in its sports halls is controversial among citizens and clubs.

On Sunday she was also a topic at the CSU morning pint.

Doing sports and then only taking a cold shower – for CSU local chairwoman Janine Krzizok, also the city council’s sports officer, that’s acceptable.

"I still stand by this decision, although I understand that it upsets some," she said.

The federal government's requirement for cities and municipalities is to save 20 percent on energy consumption.

"And we have to start somewhere," said BLSV district chairman Martin Weber, one of the listeners in the Gasthaus Kreuzeder.

However, he hopes that a compromise will be found in Erding for foreign athletes, such as opponents of the Altenerding handball team, who would otherwise have to be sent on a long journey home without a shower.

On the other hand, Weber remembered his own active time: "I played football myself for 30 years, we didn't have hot water before." The sense of entitlement in society is becoming ever higher.

The badminton players were spared cold showers at the TSV Erding tournament at the weekend in the Semptsporthalle.

They were allowed to use the showers in the neighboring SpVgg Altenerding tennis club, with hot water.

Krzizok announced that the decision to take cold showers would certainly be put to the test "if it turns out that it doesn't work".

At the weekend she checked the water temperature in the Semptsporthalle herself.

Her finding: "It's far from freezing cold."

Arnold Kronseder would have preferred an appeal to users to shower less on their own responsibility.

CSU city councilor Ludwig Kirmair, on the other hand, does not believe "that sport has been a big waste".

What is saved now is a reduction.

If that is not enough, one must consider whether to limit the offer.

Krzizok recalled how the city promotes sport year after year and referred to the new Gerd Vogt sports hall and the newly renovated ice rink.

"It's good that the measures could be started before Corona," she said in view of the 15 million euros in trade tax that Erding had less due to the pandemic.

“All sports expenses are voluntary services.

You always have to keep that in mind,” says Krzizok.

She emphasized that there will always be money for the sport, "but we won't be tackling any major projects in the near future".

The new triple gym at Lodererplatz is already under construction.

It should also help to expand the hall capacities.

It is well known that these have been scarce for years.

But that also shows how many clubs are active here, says Krzizok.

They did great things, mainly thanks to their volunteers.

They too have become fewer during the pandemic.

"We need a lot of appreciation for that," emphasized Krzizok and thanked everyone "who contributes here regularly".

She named the athletics department of TSV Erding with the Weber family at the top.

According to Walter Rauscher, the Erding water rescue service has enough junior staff.

However, the swimming courses for children, which can only just be offered there again, take place during the day.

But there are many volunteers at work.

As a pensioner, he has time.

Currently he only gives swimming courses for kindergartens and schools.

The external waiting list, which had grown significantly during the pandemic, has been closed.

Speaking of hot water: Rauscher is happy that at the beginning of October he will be able to continue a swimming course in the indoor pool that he started in the outdoor pool.

However, he had to stop because the water and outside temperatures were too cold.

Now it's on to the non-swimmers' pool of the indoor pool, which, like the children's pool, has a temperature of 28/29 degrees.

"You can work with that," says Rauscher.
