(ANSA) - BENEVENTO, 04 OCT - A Neapolitan doctor, former head of the Orthopedics department at the Fatebenefratellidi Benevento hospital, was arrested by the men of the Guardia diFinanza of the Naples and Benevento command, for crimes of corruption and issuing false invoices.
The restrictive measure was issued at the end of the investigations coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Benevento, headed by AldoPolicastro, which also ordered the preventive seizure of movable and immovable assets up to the amount of at least 600 thousand euros.
The investigations made it possible to acquire serious clues of guilt regarding a corruptive system through which the doctor involved, at the time of the primary facts of the Orthopedic Department of the Sacro Cuore di Gesù Fatebenefratelli Hospital in Benevento, in agreement with the two regional representatives of supplier companies of surgical materials, he systematically receives from these money to purchase, for the operations planned and performed between 2014 and 2019, orthopedic prostheses made, marketed or distributed by companies attributable to the corrupters.
The latter were thus guaranteed the almost exclusive supply of orthopedic prostheses and medical devices to the hospital in the capital of San Marino.
The doctor, according to a note from the prosecutor, "kept an accurate count of both the incoming and outgoing sums, operations that found plastic correspondence in the manuscripts found in one of the corrupting subjects".
It was therefore found that in order to justify and account for the massive flow of money that flowed annually from the company's accounts to those of the healthcare professional, recourse had been devised to apparent professional assignments, conferred to the doctor for consultancy and training courses, documented confattura for non-existent operations.
Also significant were the messages exchanged between the doctor and one of the suspects to comment on the progress of their illegal business.
The doctor is now under house arrest.
