The Ministry of Health announced today that the cumulative total of cholera cases confirmed by rapid testing in the country has risen to 594, distributed in Aleppo 386, Deir Ezzor 84, Hasaka 45, Raqqa 26, Latakia 21, Sweida 9, Hama 7, Homs 6, Damascus 6, Daraa 3 and Quneitra 1.
According to a ministry statement, SANA received a copy of it today, the cumulative total number of deaths from cholera reached 39, in Aleppo 34, in Al-Hasakah 3 and Deir Ezzor 2.
The ministry indicated that most of the deaths were caused by the delay in seeking early medical advice or by people suffering from chronic diseases.
The ministry called for the need to follow public health procedures, which are washing hands with soap and water frequently, drinking water from a safe source, and if it cannot be found, it can be boiled for two minutes and then kept in a clean and closed container, washing fruits and vegetables well, cooking food and keeping it at the appropriate temperature, and not drinking or eating anything. Something of unknown origin or of doubtful safety and early medical advice if an infection is suspected.
It also called on the ministry to follow its official platforms on the Internet and social networking sites.
