The Eichenried women's community is reorganizing itself.

In the future, the tasks will be spread over several shoulders.

Eichenried

– Just a month ago, the Eichenried women's community celebrated its 100th anniversary.

Now the women are repositioning themselves because no one could be found to take over the management of the club.

Instead, the tasks are spread over several shoulders.

The previous board members have to do it again – but only for two years.

"This is really the last time": Renate Schraufstetter had already announced her retirement as chairwoman of the women's community in Eichenried during the new elections five years ago.

She has held this office since 2009, and it should be over in 2021.

Since last year's elections were canceled due to Corona, they should now be made up for.

In addition to Schraufstetter, deputy chairwoman Maria Pretzl, secretary Hannelore Adam, treasurer Gerlinde Ratberger and auditor Annelies Schimpf no longer wanted to run.

"We all wanted to quit.

But despite a hard search, no successors were found,” said Schraufstetter on Sunday at the annual general meeting in the parish home in Eichenried.

Women's community Eichenried: theater group has dissolved

The 226-strong community recently celebrated its 100th anniversary.

"And that it should continue after that was an important concern for us on the board," says Schraufstetter.

Therefore management and activities are to be continued in a modified form.

Ratberger, Adam and Schraufstetter will form a management team in the future - but only until the end of 2024, after which they will definitely end their work.

"It sounds very sad, but maybe in two years I'll have someone who wants to take action then.

That gives me hope,” said Schraufstetter.

The previous auditor, Martina Straßer, will continue to hold this office, together with Annemarie Limmer (new).

The remaining activities are shared among several women.

This includes church activities such as the October Rosary, the Stations of the Cross, the Women's World Day of Prayer and the erection of a Corpus Christi altar, but also the cozy afternoons, participation in the Christmas market and the maypole vigil and celebration.

The women present in the rectory unanimously agreed to this new arrangement.

The coffee wreaths with theater will no longer take place, however, because the theater group is disbanding after more than 30 years.

The reasons: illness, old age or more time for the grandchildren.

"It just doesn't work anymore.

That's a pity, but also understandable," said Schraufstetter, who traditionally became the author herself for the performances and said goodbye to the former theater players and the retired board members at the meeting.

Long-standing members of the women's community were also honored (report follows).

Secretary Adam's review of 2021 was quite brief due to the pandemic.

Coffee wreath, Corpus Christi, Christmas market - none of this could take place.

After all, cozy afternoons were possible, even if only on ten dates throughout the year.

Because hardly any events took place, hardly any money was raised.

"But we still wanted to continue to be socially involved," said cashier Ratberger.

And so donations made up the bulk of the expenditure at 7,120 euros - among other things, 3,000 euros went to the women's shelter and 2,000 euros to the initiative for children with cancer.

Although this resulted in a minus of almost 6,500 euros, "but the cash position generated in previous years allowed it," says Ratberger.

Deacon Thomas Zaminer emphasized that without women "the church as we know it would hardly exist".

He called the women's community "local church": "You can't separate the women's community from the church." But the church is not just the building.

All are church who are baptized in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

And there are more than 1,400 in Eichenried. And yet, Zaminer confessed, “I look at the church in Eichenried with concern”.

A topic that Schraufstetter also took up in view of the fewer and fewer churchgoers (report follows).
