The department of the upper section of the General Company for Railway Construction in Homs managed during the current year to load 55,506 cubic meters of gravel and 360 cubic meters of sand to be used in railway rehabilitation projects.

In a statement to SANA, the head of the company’s upper section department, Engineer Youssef Suleiman, stated that four basalt stone quarries belong to the department, three of which have been rehabilitated since 2020 with national expertise, with a capacity of about 35 cubic meters per hour, and basalt gravel constitutes 70 percent of the output. And 30 percent of basaltic sand, indicating that since the rehabilitation of the quarries to date, 30,000 cubic meters of crushed basaltic stone have been produced.

He explained that according to demand, a train and more are loaded daily with a load of up to 500 tons, for use in railway projects in Aleppo, Tartous and Hama. The surplus sand products can be sold to the private sector in coordination with the company’s management, and these products are of great value in their uses, and the public sector benefits from them. in dam projects.

Suleiman pointed out that the company's stock of basalt stone amounts to 25 thousand cubic meters, pointing out that there is a shortage in the amount of fuel needed to increase the production process.
