This has been the rivalry between Mexico and Argentina in the World Cups
The rivalry between Argentina and Mexico dates back to the first World Cup in history, in Uruguay 1930, in which the albiceleste thrashed El Tri 6-2 in the group stage.
Since then, fortune has always been on the side of the South Americans and it has cost the Mexican team dearly.
Argentina and Mexico meet this Saturday on the second date of Group C in Qatar, in a match that Lionel Scaloni's team cannot directly lose after the historic defeat they had against Saudi Arabia in their World Cup debut.
If he does, he would be out of the World Cup in the group stage for the fourth time in its history (precedents are Sweden 1958, Chile 1962 and Korea-Japan 2002).
Tata Martino's team arrives with a little more air after the 0-0 draw against Poland.
However, if history is any indication, the albiceleste have the advantage on their side.

Two recent round of 16 eliminations
The last meeting between the two teams in a World Cup was in the round of 16 in 2010, when the Albiceleste led by Diego Maradona prevailed against Mexico 3-1 and left the Central American team out of South Africa.
Leo Messi played the game, although in this case the goals were from Carlos Tévez and Gonzalo Higuaín, now retired.
On the Mexican side, the one who scored was Javier "Chicharito" Hernández.
